Use Retail Mode for faster checkout

You can now use Retail Mode on the Toast POS app to streamline your checkout process in retail environments. This mode supports barcode scanning, scale-based weighing, and price look up (PLU) code lookup, providing a faster and more intuitive experience when entering items.

With Retail Mode, you can use:

• A PLU numerical keypad

• Updated search bar with “Search, scan, price lookup” placeholder text

• Support for barcode scanning and scale-based weighing

Previously, Quick Order mode was optimized for restaurants, which created friction for retail operations when entering PLU codes, updating item quantities, looking up prices, or removing items from checks.
